The OPST´s SP Lazar Line is a relatively new shooting line on the market. It´s been tested and approved by Ed Ward and Jerry French. Link
This is a monofilament running line designed to correct all the wrongs with traditional mono lines and shoots like a lazer:
- Floating (Hydrophobic)
- No Permanent memory at any temperature (completely memory free in both hot and cold conditions)
- Highly Visibility (In a beautiful Chartreuse color)
- Exceptional Durability (Doesn´t degrade due to UV exposure)
- Ties Beautiful Knots (has a calculated stretch for supreme knot strength)
- Comes in 25, 30, 35, 40 and 50-pound test.
I must say it all sounds great and a must have product (but it´s not the first time, i have heard that).
I will soon test this product and see for myself about it´s performance//
Update: Now i have tried this product. I´m very satisfied with the result. There´s not many fault with this running line, it´s good for what they say. If you start your fishing and remember to stretch the line if will stay straight the whole time you are fishing. It´s very pleasant to hold on to and have a very visibel color. You can feel the slightest move from the fly, and you shoot the line tremendously well. I really like this running line and the closest i can think of is LTS´s early running line.
There is maybe one problem, i don´t think this line is any different from other monofil running lines when it comes to floatability. It slowly sinks from the surface to the bottom. Okay, it maybe not take a lot of friction, from the water, when you cast, but i didn´t stand deep in a stream to try that fact. Anyway it doesn´t float as the company said it would. I also have to give it some more time before i can evaluate this products strength and durability, but the future will tell. Otherwise it´s a bang product and the running line i will fish with this coming summer.
